Read about...ORTH; a planet managed by Max where population increase is rigorously controlled; where everything that happens to every human inhabitant is automatically recorded; where there is no waste; where all the basic necessities of life are freely provided for every person from birth onward and social advancement of the individual is based on merit.
Yet... all is not well on Orth. A commodity vital to the very existence of them all is in danger of disappearing forever.

the arrival of a space wrecked stranger from ...TERRA; a planet managed
by an elected governing body where an increase in population is viewed
as being synonymous with financial growth; where competition is
encouraged; where indulgences can be gratified; where Hal, their
believed Creator, is held in great reverence; and androids do all the
necessary yet menial tasks, while the inhabitants get on with enjoying
themselves.
When the
Orthian Elders learn from information freely given by the stranger,
that Terra has plenty of what they need, three spaceship pilots are
chosen from among those qualified, to fly to Terra and retrieve the
commodity in order to save planet Orth.
